Another minor step crossed successfully today : first night of my older son at a friend's, first night of my younger son alone in their room. Family life is full of such small but important events.

On our way to sunday open market, drizzle looks like only tiny points of water scattered through the sky. Prunes already big and tasty, but not sweet yet.

Going today on a visit on a small wooden house located on eastern seine banks, before the junction with Yonne; here, Seine is rather narrow, boats of all kinds are floating either way, from the longest barge bearing owner's car to simple canoes, all make wavelets tiding against the steep bank.

A giant cherrytree, with branches full of dark wild cherries, some of them not eaten by the birds,  occupies the central place in the tiny sloping garden. Bamboos, roses and wild grass complete this summer picture. Cherry juice all around the mouth and hands. Eating in the veranda, under a light roof. The trees above it splash and shower the roof whenever the wind blows, while drizzle provides a tiny permanent drum kit. Keith Moon.

Back home on time for winged ant swarming. Thousands of winged ants flying akwardly in the evening sun, like day fireflies, to try finding in a few hours both mating and a nuptial room. Wow.

thought of fireflies
or of wood log fire sparks
sunset ant swarming !
